I am a highly-motivated, enthusiastic and confident individual who thrives in being challenged whilst working as part of a team or on my own initiative. I am able to manage time effectively and familiar with the pressures of meeting tight deadlines yet still achieving work of a professional standard.

Glossop Chronicle newspaper 

June 2010, August 2010, August 2011, July 2013, August 2015

 

I worked as a trainee reporter at my local newspaper during my Year 10 work experience at Longdendale Community Language College. I have since returned for several periods where I have had several articles published in the paper, my own Yesterdays column on the Nostalgia page where I scanned the archives to see what made the news 50, 75 and 100 years ago. I also covered the GCSE and A-Level results three times and have had a front page exclusive published.

 

Freelance work

Spring 2014 - present 

 

I have had work published in several publications and websites including The Leisure Review, Manchester United's official club website, Quays News, Salford Online, Granada Reports, Football League World, The Sports Lowdown, 90min.com, the People's Person. I have also worked for NHS R&D as a reporter and social media co-ordinator during their 2015 conference.

 
Freelance journalist, High Peak Radio

July 2015 - present

 

I joined the High Peak Radio team on a part-time basis on their newsdesk to fulfil the role of freelance journalist. My tasks include researching, writing, structuring, recording and editing local news bulletins which are then played on air every hour. I have also trained work experience students, conducted interviews for features and recorded items for other elements of the station's daily schedule including the Gig Guide, Happenings File and Events Planner.

Whilst at university, I was a reporter for the university student website Quays News and, during my second year, became its deputy editor. I am also currently taking my NCTJ qualifications with the topics Essential Media Law, Essential Public Affairs, Court Reporting, News Reporting and Sports Reporting completed so far.

During my two years at college, I achieved an A* in Law, A grades in English Language, Media Studies and General Studies and a B in IT. I also attended Basic First Aid Training classes, a Creative Writing workshop and refereed some college football matches as well as having 100% attendance.
