LAST season’s runners-up RANGERS will take on Scottish Championship rivals Hibernian at Ibrox in the Challenge Cup first round.
Rangers were promoted to the second tier last term after winning the League One title while Hibs were relegated from the Premiership after a play-off defeat to Hamilton Academical.
It is the third successive season the Gers will compete in the competition for Scottish Football League clubs, and two Highland League outfits, as they prepare to face their Edinburgh counterparts for the first time since an SPL meeting in January 2012.
Elsewhere, holders Raith Rovers travel to Fife neighbours Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park and competition debutants Hearts entertain Annan Athletic at Tynecastle.
Local rivals Airdrieonians and Albion Rovers meet at the Excelsior Stadium while Falkirk make the short trip to East Stirlingshire for another derby match at Ochilview.
Morton have home advantage against Lowland League winners Spartans and Stenhousemuir travel to Highland League champions Brora Rangers.
Scottish League Two champions Peterhead will travel to Links Park to face Montrose with Elgin hosting Stirling Albion at Borough Briggs and Brechin facing a tough baptism away at Championship side Cowdenbeath.
The draw for the newly-named Petrofac Training Cup was made at Easter Road on Wednesday and split into two regionalised sections, north and south, to produce 13 ties.
All the first round ties are due to be played on 26 July but the date for Rangers against Hibs will be rearranged due to the Commonwealth Games being held in Glasgow.
