TOTTENHAM goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has signed a new five-year deal, keeping him at the Premier League club until the summer of 2019.

Lloris, 27, has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane in search of Champions League football but has now ended the speculation by extending his deal.

The French international, who captained his nation to the World Cup quarter-finals in Brazil, admitted he had spoken with newly-appointed manager Mauricio Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy before committing his future at White Hart Lane.

"I spoke with the chairman and I know the club is ambitious as ever. It's very important to feel at home at a club and for my family to feel well," Lloris told the club's official website.

"I enjoy a great relationship with the club and the fans. The arrival of Mauricio Pochettino is important as well. I have a good feeling with him. He is also ambitious.

"Everything is clear in my head and if I've signed a new contract it's because I trust the club and I'm sure we will progress in a positive way.

"Last season wasn't the season we all hoped for but we were still able to finish sixth in the league. We know where we have to improve, the club also knows and there is a feeling and a confident connection between the club and the players."

Lloris has made 78 Tottenham appearances since joining for an initial £8 million fee from Lyon in the summer of 2012.

Reports suggest Ligue 1 champions Paris St Germain have been trying to lure him back to France while Spurs were believed to be interested in Newcastle's Dutch stopper Tim Krul as a potential replacement but the rumours have now been put to bed.

The news comes after Lloris's understudy Brad Friedel, 41, also signed a one-year contract extension last month.
