BLACKBURN Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes has signed a two-year contract extension with the Championship club.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a host of Premier League teams but has committed his future to Ewood Park with a deal lasting until the summer of 2019.

The prolific Scottish international, who signed from Huddersfield in the summer of 2012 for a record £8 million fee, has been top scorer in both of his two full seasons at Rovers.

"I'm delighted, I'm very happy. It is a fantastic football club and I'm very lucky to be here," Rhodes told the club's official website.

"I enjoy coming in every day and to have an extension of two more years on top of my current contract is a real bonus."

Rhodes began his career at Ipswich and joined Huddersfield in 2009 where he attracted the interest of Blackburn after being the top scorer in England's top four divisions in 2011-12 with 36 league goals.

He bagged 28 goals and was named Player of the Year in his first full campaign before netting 25 times in the league in 2013-14 as Rovers narrowly missed out on a Championship play-off place.

Boss Gary Bowyer has already bolstered his frontline with the acquisitions of Luke Varney from Leeds United and Doncaster Rovers striker Chris Brown.

But the news that Rhodes has agreed fresh terms will be the biggest boost of the summer as the Lancashire side seek to end a three-year exile from the Premier League.

RHODES' GOALS:

(Figures in all competitions)

2009-10: 23 goals in 53 appearances

2010-11: 22 goals in 48 appearances

2011-12: 40 goals in 45 appearances

2012-13: 29 goals in 50 appearances

2013-14: 25 goals in 48 appearances
