RANGERS will face Glasgow rivals Queen's Park in the pick of the first round ties for the 2014/15 Scottish Communities League Cup.

The Light Blues, who lost to Forfar in extra-time at the first hurdle 12 months ago, won all four league meetings with the Spiders in the 2012-13 season when both sides were in Scotland's fourth tier.

Premiership newcomers Dundee and Hamilton Accies face home ties against Peterhead and Arbroath respectively, while Elgin City will make the longest trip of the round to Queen of the South.

The draw - staged at Dumbarton's Bet Butler Stadium on Thursday - featured 30 teams who were outside the top tier last term while the 12 remaining clubs including holders Aberdeen will enter the competition in the second round.

Ramsdens Cup winners Raith Rovers host Forfar, Dumbarton travel to Brechin and Airdrieonians take on Stenhousemuir.

Albion Rovers are at home to Livingston, three-time winners East Fife travel to Stranraer, Alloa Athletic welcome Stirling Albion and Greenock Morton face Berwick Rangers.

Falkirk make the trip to Montrose, Dunfermline entertain Annan Athletic, East Stirlingshire lock horns with Ayr United and Clyde are up against Cowdenbeath.

All ties will be played on August 2 and 3 but Rangers against Queen's Park has been rescheduled because of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

With the Spiders' regular home Hampden Park also in use, the clash will take place at Airdrie's Excelsior Stadium.

Rangers will take on fellow Championship side Hibernian in the first round of the Petrofac Training Services Cup at Ibrox on 5 August.
