VETERAN goalkeeper Steve Simonsen has decided to stay with Rangers after agreeing a new one-year deal until the summer of 2015.
The 35-year-old, who joined from Dundee last summer, made three appearances last term as back-up to number one Cammy Bell as the Gers romped to the Scottish League One title.
The former Everton, Stoke and Tranmere stopper turned down several offers from other clubs to remain at Ibrox during the 2014-15 campaign.
"I had a lot of other teams getting in contact and it was a little bit like buses this summer. A few in England and Scotland got in touch but as soon as the manager expressed his interest in bringing me back here, it was a non-competition," Simonsen told the club's official website.
"This was the only place I wanted to come to and there's massive appeal here because I thoroughly enjoyed it at Rangers last season.
"I could maybe have gone somewhere else as the number one. But I'm just delighted to be back and I'm looking forward to working alongside Cammy again.
"It's a fantastic football club as everybody knows. When I got the call, I just told the manager I'd be here whenever he needed me. I couldn't wait to get back."
Simonsen was banned from driving for 12 months back in April after admitting drink driving when caught behind the wheel over the legal limit.
