REAL Madrid have signed midfielder Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £24 million.

After signing a six-year deal and completing a medical, Kroos was unveiled as a Real player on Thursday afternoon to 8,000 fans at the Bernabeu wearing his no.8 shirt.

Kroos was a key part of Germany's World Cup winning team in Brazil, playing every game and scoring twice as well as assisting a further four goals during the tournament.

The 24-year-old, whose Bayern contract had one final year to run, scored 23 goals in 173 Bundesliga appearances.

"I know how important it is for Real Madrid to win titles and I'm the man to do just that," Kroos told his first press conference.

"Only one thing was acceptable at Bayern: winning trophies. When I arrived here I immediately knew the same thing applies.

"I know that I've joined a highly successful club and I'm going to do everything in my power to ensure that success continues.

"Winning trophies with this team is an exciting challenge for me. My target is to win every competition."

Kroos was a product of Hansa Bostock's youth academy, moving to Bayern as a 16-year-old.

He spent 18 months on loan at Bayer Leverkusen but became a first-team regular on his return to the Allianz Arena.

Kroos has won 13 major trophies in his career, claiming three Bundesliga titles, three German Cups, the Champions League, Uefa Super Cup and the Club World Cup with Bayern.

He was also part of the treble-winning side of 2012-13 which won the Bundesliga, German Cup and the Champions League.

Kroos flirted with a move to Manchester United but a lack of Champions League football at Old Trafford next season is believed to be a major factor in his decision.

Although Real's presence is undoubted after claiming their 10th European crown by beating rivals Atletico in the Champions League final last term.

Real are on the brink of signing Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas from Levante with Diego Lopez expected to leave the club.
