HEARTS have signed midfielder Prince Buaben on a one-year deal after a successful trial period.
The Ghanaian midfielder has agreed terms at Tynecastle following his departure from English League One side Carlisle in May.
The 26-year-old becomes the Edinburgh club's sixth summer signing as they prepare for life in the Scottish Championship after their relegation last season.
Head coach Robbie Neilson told Hearts' official website: "It's great that Prince has put pen to paper.
"He's been at training for the last two weeks and he's played a few games for us. He's looking good and he's a top player.
"He's played in the SPL for a long time and he's played in England at a very high level so I'm pleased to get him.
"He gives us a bit of strength in there. We've got some good options now in the middle of the field. He's a good character as well.
"He hadn't done a pre-season after he finished up last season so I just wanted to see where he was and he's a fit guy.
"If this is the condition he's in, having only trained for just over a week, then I'm looking forward to seeing what we can get out of him in two or three weeks time."
Buaben, who grew up in the Netherlands from the age of nine, came through the Ajax youth academy before moving to Dundee United in 2007.
He scored 11 goals in 142 appearances during a four-year stint at Tannadice where he won the Scottish Cup in 2010.
Buaben signed for Watford the following summer on a free transfer and left for Carlisle in October 2013 before spending the second half of last season on loan at Partick Thistle, where he made 11 appearances.
He joins fellow arrivals Morgaro Gomis, James Keatings, Soufian El Hassnaoui, Neil Alexander and Alim Ozturk.
Buaben will compete with former Dundee United team-mate Gomis, Jason Holt and Scott Robinson for a starting berth in midfield.
