Almost there: Celtic have one foot in the next round after their slender win over the Icelandic champions on Wednesday (Picture from Zimbio.com)
CELTIC will face either Polish outfit Legia Warsaw or Irish side St Patrick's Athletic should they make the Champions League third qualifying round.
Ronny Deila's side would be away from home in the first leg of the tie, which will take place on 29 or 30 July with the return on 5/6 August.
The Scottish champions beat KR Reykjavik of Iceland 1-0 away from home in the first leg of their second qualifying round tie ahead of the second leg at Murrayfield on Tuesday.
Legia - managed by former Rangers defender and Blackburn boss Henning Berg - drew 1-1 with St Pat's in the first leg of their second-round match in Poland.
Christy Fagan opened the scoring for the men from Dublin before Miroslav Radovic scored in stoppage time.
Celtic assistant manager John Collins admitted he would prefer to draw St Pat's because of the proximity of the away leg.
He told reporters: "I think it is a good draw but obviously we’d prefer to play in Ireland. It is closer, less travelling but first thing is first we’ve got to take care of the second leg so we don’t jump too far ahead.
"They [Legia] should be favourites. I believe they've spent a lot of money, they’re a big club but 1-1 at home then St Pat’s must feel they have a good chance of going through. I’m sure they’ll be highly motivated to play Celtic in the next round.
Elsewhere, Belfast-based Cliftonville, who drew 0-0 with Debrecen, would meet BATE Borisov or KS Skenderbeu.
Welsh side The New Saints will face FK Sutjeska or Sheriff Tiraspol if they overturn a 1-0 deficit against Slovan Bratislava.
The winners of the third qualifying round ties on aggregate would progress to the play-off round.
