SWANSEA have signed midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson from Tottenham, with goalkeeper Michel Vorm and full-back Ben Davies moving the other way.

The Icelandic international arrived back from Spurs' pre-season tour of the United States on Wednesday morning.

The 24-year-old, who is believed to have cost the Swans around £8 million, has signed a four-year deal at the Liberty Stadium.

Sigurdsson spent the 2011-12 season on loan in South Wales from Hoffenheim, scoring seven goals and assisting three in 18 appearances under Brendan Rodgers.

"It's fantastic for me. I really enjoyed the last time I was here, so it's good to be back," he told the club's official website.

"I was here for four months and I have a lot of good memories. Hopefully this time it will be even better."

The former Reading player netted eight times in 58 Premier League outings during two seasons at White Hart Lane, but he struggled to nail down a regular place in the side, starting just 26 times.

"I really enjoyed my time at Spurs. It was tough leaving a club that I've enjoyed playing for over the last few years, but as soon as Swansea came in it was an easy decision to make," Sigurdsson added.

Crystal Palace were on the brink of securing his services but Sigurdsson has now become Swansea's fifth summer signing.

Lukasz Fabianski, Bafetimbi Gomis, Stephen Kingsley and Marvin Emnes have all joined Garry Monk's side so far.

Sigurdsson will boost the Swans' midfield ranks with Michu already departed to Napoli on a season-long loan while Pablo Hernandez is expected to join Al Arabi in Qatar.
