SWANSEA City have clinched the purchase of Ecuador winger Jefferson Montero on a four-year contract.
The 24-year-old leaves Mexican club Monarcas Morelia for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £4 million.
He immediately joined his new team-mates on the training ground after passing a medical on Thursday morning.
Montero has eight goals from 43 caps for his country since making his international debut in 2007, starting all three of their group games at the 2014 World Cup finals.
The right-footed winger, who is comfortable on either flank, will provide further options for Swansea boss Garry Monk out wide and looks set to replace the departing Pablo Hernandez.
Montero admitted he was impressed by the club's philosophy and was persuaded to move by his Ecuador team-mate Antonio Valencia.
"I was impressed by Swansea when I played against them in a friendly while I was at Betis. Their style is very attractive," he told the club's official website.
"And Antonio Valencia also spoke very well about the team - he said they are always a tough team to play against.
"We've spoken recently and we joked about Swansea and Manchester United playing in the first game. So that will be an interesting match for us.
"He also told me how great the league is. Every single game is very competitive, and I'm really looking forward to playing in it.
"I've played in La Liga and in Mexico, but now I am in the Premier League - the best in the world - and I want to thank Swansea for giving me this opportunity."
Montero - who has had previous spells in Europe with Villarreal, Levante and Real Betis in Spain - becomes Swansea's sixth summer signing.
He joins the Premier League club the day after Gylfi Sigurdsson arrived from Tottenham in a deal which saw Ben Davies and Michel Vorm move in the opposite direction.
Spanish midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo has also departed the Welsh club, moving to La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano.
