DEFENDER Jerome Tesselaar has signed a one-year deal to return to St Mirren, two years after leaving for Kilmarnock.

The 25-year-old Dutch full-back made 41 appearances for the Buddies during the 2011/12 season.

Tesselaar, who started his career with AZ Alkmaar, moved to Paisley in 2011 and then joined Killie in 2012 for whom he made over 70 outings.

Tesselaar worked under Tommy Craig in his previous spell with Saints and says the new manager's style of football was key to his decision to return to St Mirren Park.

He told St Mirren's official website: "I am delighted to be back at St Mirren. I really enjoyed my time before at St Mirren and I hope we can achieve a good season.

"I know Tommy Craig’s style of football which is the Dutch way of total football and I can’t wait to get going."

Tesselaar, who could feature in St Mirren's pre-season friendly against Whitley Bay on Monday, will wear the number 22 shirt.
