HULL City have completed the capture of Dundee United left-back Andrew Robertson for a £2.85 million fee.

The 20-year-old has signed a three-year deal - with the option of a further year - after the two clubs agreed to the move south of the border last week.

It caps a meteoric rise for the senior Scotland international, who was plying his trade for amateur side Queen's Park just 12 months ago.

Robertson scored five goals in 46 appearances during a stellar debut campaign at Tannadice, which led to him scooping the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award.

He made his debut for Scotland in a 1-0 victory over Poland in March as a substitute, making his first start for his country in the 2-2 draw with Nigeria in May.

Robertson, who was named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year in 2013-14, missed only two matches last term as United finished fourth in the Scottish Premiership.

"I'm delighted it [the deal] is over the finish line now and I'm just looking forward to meeting the boys and getting started," Robertson told Sky Sports News.

"Obviously I've come from United up the road and that was brilliant for me but I think this is just the right step for me and I'm looking forward now to playing in the biggest league in the world. I'm relishing it.

"I've got belief in myself and my ability that hopefully I can push for a place in the starting XI."

Robertson joins fellow international team-mates Robert Snodgrass, Allan McGregor and George Boyd at the KC Stadium.

The completion of the transfer comes on the same day Hull also signed Sheffield United centre-back Harry Maguire.

Hull have also signed Snodgrass, Tom Ince and Jake Livermore this summer as boss Steve Bruce seeks to complete business early with their Europa League qualification campaign set to begin on Thursday in Slovakia.

Tigers left-back Conor Townsend has now gone the other way with the 21-year-old joining United on a season-long loan.

Jackie McNamara's side have already lost wonderkid Ryan Gauld to Sporting Lisbon and rejected an offer from an unnamed English League One club for winger Gary Mackay-Steven.
