ENGLISH referee Mark Clattenburg will be the man in the middle for the 2014 Uefa Super Cup between Real Madrid and Sevilla on August 12.
The 39-year-old will take charge of the all-Spanish affair between the Champions League and Europa League winners at the Cardiff City Stadium.
He will be assisted by Stuart Burt and Simon Beck with Darren England performing fourth official duties.
Michael Oliver, who will officiate the domestic curtain raiser in the Community Shield, will act as an additional assistant referee alongside Anthony Taylor.
Clattenburg - an international referee since 2006 - has overseen 46 Uefa fixtures, five of which came in last season's Champions League, including the quarter-final first leg between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
He also handled the Europa League semi-final second leg between Juventus and Benfica in Turin in April, in which he brandished three red cards.
Having received many high-profile Premier League games and other notable matches including last season's Community Shield and the 2012 League Cup Final, Clattenburg's vast experience has now led to one of Uefa's most prestigious appointments.
"Mark Clattenburg was a strong contender for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil and this appointment demonstrates how highly he is regarded by UEFA," said David Elleray, FA Referees Committee chairman.
"Like The FA Community Shield, which will involve Michael Oliver, Stuart Burt and Darren England, the UEFA Super Cup is a spectacular opening to the season and is one of UEFA’s most prestigious appointments."
The County Durham whistler also took charge of the 2012 Olympic Games men's football gold-medal match between Brazil and Mexico at Wembley Stadium and was an additional assistant referee at Euro 2012.
Clattenburg has been widely tipped to be England's representative at the Euro 2016 finals in France after a series of impressive performances in 2013-14.
