Pearson eyes Leicester improvement

LEICESTER City manager Nigel Pearson believes his side have the potential to play better following their 1-1 draw against Arsenal.

Leonardo Ulloa scored his second goal of the season to immediately cancel out Alexis Sanchez’s opener for the Gunners.

The Foxes have now collected two points from their opening three Premier League games after holding Arsene Wenger’s team at the King Power Stadium.

But while Pearson saw plenty that pleased him, he admitted his players can improve on the display and have another level to reach.

"It was another illustration of how difficult the Premier League can be,” the former Hull boss said.

“We played well, but we have played better and been more assured in possession. But we still showed the ability to create things.

“To be successful you can't go into the Premier League and just be tight and not create things. We looked dangerous on the counter attack and with some decent moves.

“We have got more to come. We have got some ability that has not been maximised so far.”

The newly-promoted side, who drew 2-2 with Everton on the opening day before losing 2-0 at Chelsea last weekend, fully merited their point after giving top-four challengers Arsenal a scare.

Pearson felt his side restricted the star-studded Gunners and even reflected on the game as a missed opportunity to claim a famous victory.

“We didn’t feel particularly threatened. We felt a lot of the chances they had a punt at were from distance and didn't trouble us,” he added.

“We are disappointed not to win. We have to win enough games to meet our objectives this season.”

Having faced three of last season’s top five in August, the Foxes travel across the Midlands to take on Stoke City in their next outing on 13 September, after the international break.
