Madden the referee for Celtic v Aberdeen
BOBBY Madden has been confirmed as the referee for Celtic's Scottish Premiership clash with Aberdeen on Saturday.
The 35-year-old will take charge at Parkhead when the reigning champions host Derek McInnes's side in the televised lunchtime kick-off.
He will be assisted by linesmen Graham Chambers and Stuart Stevenson, while Crawford Allan shall perform fourth official duties.
It is the second time Madden will officiate Celtic already this term having overseen their 1-0 defeat by Inverness in the Highlands on 23 August.
The encounter in Glasgow will be his fourth Premiership game of the campaign, and sixth in all competitions.
The Stirling-based whistler has so far brandished 10 yellow cards but it is yet to send a player off or award a penalty.
Madden, a Category One official since 2008, has been a regular figure in the Scottish top-flight since his debut in January 2011 and became a Fifa official later that year.
Although a surprise considering his previous Celtic game came only a fortnight ago, the appointment of Madden for what is now regarded as one of Scottish football's high-profile games illustrates his current standing on the refereeing merit table.
He enjoyed another busy and largely successful season in 2013-14, overseeing 42 games in total including semi-finals in both the Scottish League Cup and Scottish Cup, two Edinburgh derbies and Hibernian's 2-0 win over Hamilton in the Premiership play-off first leg.
Overall, Madden brandished 113 yellows and seven red cards – five of which came during a six-game spell across December and January – whilst awarding seven penalties.
His last match involving Aberdeen came in their goalless draw away to Inverness in the league back in April.
The Dons currently sit eighth in the table after two wins and two defeats while Celtic are three places above having registered two victories, a draw and a loss.
