OLIVER Langford will be the man in the middle for Watford’s televised SkyBet Championship clash against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The 43-year-old from the West Midlands will take charge of the lunchtime kick-off at Vicarage Road as the second-placed Hornets entertain the play-off chasing Cherries, who currently sit in the bottom half of the table.

He will be assisted by linesmen Darren Blunden (Kent) and Antony Coggins (Oxfordshire) while Charles Brakespear (Surrey) will be the fourth official.

Langford, an experienced whistler who regularly officiates across all three divisions in the Football League, has been a National List referee since the start of the 2008-09 campaign.

He has taken control of six games in all competitions so far this season, brandishing only five yellow cards and awarding two penalties but is still yet to send a player off.

Langford, who has already overseen two Championship games, was on duty for Sheffield United’s 3-2 win at Colchester in League One on Tuesday night.

Last season, Langford refereed 37 matches in total with 79 yellow cards, five red cards and seven penalties given in the process.

He was rewarded for a relatively incident-free campaign with an appointment to the League Two play-off semi-final first leg between Burton Albion and Southend at the Pirelli Stadium, which the hosts won 1-0 despite having captain Ian Sharps dismissed for a second bookable offence.

Saturday’s game will be his second assignment live on Sky Sports this term, having handled Burton’s 2-0 victory over Portsmouth in League Two earlier this month.

Watford, who trail leaders Norwich by a solitary point, have a 100% record on home soil in the league and have lost only two of their seven Championship outings so far this term, one of which came in manager Oscar Garcia’s first game in charge at Charlton last weekend.

Despite an impressive start to the campaign, Bournemouth are languishing in 15th place after failing to win a league match since the middle of August.
